Spill Control - Spill Barriers - Retention Barriers

BLOBEL Spill Barrier and Retention Barrier Systems are internationally approved.
The requirements of the Containment of Contaminated Fire Fighting Water guideline (LÖRÜRL national), capital equipment regulations (VAwS national) and regional fire protection authorities have been satisfied. This applies also to all known specifications of the member countries of the EU and worldwide requirements.

The use of manual and automatic Retention Barriers and Spill Barriers for Spill Control and Sprinkler Water Containment within facilities is widely practised or standard. Under certain circumstances, special individual type approvals (verification of suitability) are to be obtained in the individual states. Existing certificates are typically sufficient in the EU member states and worldwide. BLOBEL Spill and Retention Barriers can also help to comply with the European Seveso II Directive 96/82/EC, 96/082/EEC.

BLOBEL Retention Barriers can be integrated in any Bund or installed in front of a door, drive through or other opening to be sealed. Manual systems are closed in the event of an emergency by trained personnel or this practice is included in the daily operational procedures eg Barriers may be opened and closed on a daily basis. Automatic Retention Systems however operate completely independently.

The Retention Barrier and Spill Barrier Systems such as the BL/BED-PM and BL/BDD-PM, (see photos) can be connected to and triggered by any hazard detection system such as fire alarms, smoke detectors, liquid detectors or flow meters. Alternatively, the Retention Barrier or Spill Barrier can also be closed at the push of a button.

To ensure maximum safety for personnel and environment, the Retention Barriers are fitted with an acoustic and visual warning signal and the closing speed can be adjusted manually. German authorities and insurers allow for a minimum closing time of 20 seconds and a maximum of 60 seconds. On the leading edge is the sealing technology based on a very flexible, highly chemical-resistant and flame retardant foam material, as well as overall demands on safety.
